Assuming the speed of thief be 10 km/h & policemen be 15 km/h, calculate the distance (in metres) covered by the thief before the policemen caught the thief? A. 750 m B. 800 m C. 850 m D. 900 m

Explanation

The policeman gains 15 − 10 = 5 km/h on the thief, so he closes the 400 m gap in 0.4/5 = 0.08 hours. In that time the thief runs 10 × 0.08 = 0.8 km = 800 m.
