Explanation

In the diagram the circle is chess, the triangle tennis and the rectangle hockey. Non-chess players are the regions outside the circle: 5 + 5 (tennis only) + 5 + 20 (hockey only) = 35. Players of both chess and tennis are inside both circle and triangle: 11 + 10 + 14 = 35. The two numbers are the same.
