RRB NTPC · Question 59
A trader bought 10 kg of rice at Rs. 400 per kg. He sold half the quantity at 20% loss and remaining at 10% profit. What was his net profit or loss in percentage?
Show answer & explanation
Answer: (A) 5% loss
Explanation
Cost = 10 × 400 = Rs 4,000, i.e. Rs 2,000 for each half. One half sold at a 20% loss = 1,600, and the other at a 10% profit = 2,200. Total SP = 3,800, a loss of Rs 200 = 200/4000 × 100 = 5% loss.
