RRB NTPC · Question 23
A water tank has two holes. The 1^st hole alone empties the tank in 9 minutes and 2^nd hole alone empties the tank in 6 minutes. If water leaks out at a constant rate, how many minutes does it take if both the holes together empty the tank?
Show answer & explanation
Answer: (A) \(3\frac{3}{5}\)
Explanation
Together the holes empty 1/9 + 1/6 = 2/18 + 3/18 = 5/18 of the tank per minute. Time = 18/5 = 3 3/5 minutes.
